I used to keep a blog. I blogged about family, my now husband, my job and anything else that was on my mind. Everything is right in the world at this very moment. I just found out on Thursday, June 14th, that I am PREGNANT! Chris and I decided to go off the pill about 2 months ago. We figured it might take a while since I have been on the pill for the past 12 years. We were hoping for a "Fall Pregnancy." I wanted to have summer vacation, get some things fixed around the house and get Draven off to 6th grade. Well, I will have a fall pregnancy, but a summer one too. February 12th 2008 is the estimated due date for Preston Hanes Henry. That name was picked out long before there was even a thought of a baby.
Now that my Saturday nights are going to be filled with Lemonade and sunflower seeds instead of beer and cigarettes, I thought I would try to find some new ways to occupy my time. So far it seems that hanging out with my 11 year old son is a lot easier than hanging out with my husband or friends. Less temptation. Last night we played a little ball and Frisbee then watched our favorite "America's Funniest Animals." Speaking of animals, we told Draven
that before we had a baby he would get a dog. His dog is set to arrive July 1st. Once he has the dog in hand we will tell him about the baby. So far, no one knows about the baby. Shhhhh....
It is hard to keep it a secret, but we want to wait until after our first doc appointment. That is July 11th at 10 am. A lot of people will figure it out before then. Mainly, I don't want Draven to know until after his vacation with him Papa and after summer camp. He would worry about his momma. I am waiting to tell the rest of my family once I know that I am pregnant with a healthy baby. Now, my friends on the other hand... Not so sure how or when to tell them. My friends Lo and Al will probably be the first to know. We are getting together with them tonight and they will suspect something when they see my with my lemonade and sunflower seeds. Lo is the friend I would go if I needed emotional support, so it is best I tell her soon. I am already an emotional mess! June 23rd we are hosting one of our famous dinner parties. Our friend Rusty is coming into town. I want to tell him and a few other friends that will be there, but not everyone. So, not sure what to do there. More lemonade! Seriously, lemonade makes for a great summer cocktail. Chris knows how to make a drink. Get a pretty cocktail glass, 1/2 lemonade, 1/2 club soda, and a slice of lime over ice. People will think I have gone from a beer girl to a vodka girl. They will never know. Well, they will know at some time, just not anytime soon.
I guess this will get my blog going. That's the low down. Pregnant, happy, no booze, no one knows, trying to past time while I wait 7 1/2 more months!
