Plain White Tees...

I didn't take any pictures when we went to the Paseo Arts Festival. Luckily, someone else did. I remembered someone saying they were taking it for OKC Voice. Not sure what that is, but I tracked down the photo. I know, we all are wearing white shirts. Once Draven realized that, he was so embarrassed. I promise, it wasn't planned.

The rest of the weekend...

I posted our Friday night already, so on to Saturday. Chris and I started the day early with a big workout. We knew the gym would be closed on Monday so we were trying to put in a little extra workout. We spent the rest of our day at the Paseo Art Festival. I didn't take any pictures there because it was just too hot! The festival is so large now. It has doubled in size since the last time we went. After that we were ready to be inside for the rest of the day. We planned on cooking out but the hot day soon turned into a thunderstorms. I decided to make a Hamby Family Favorite and make Chrome Dogs. My sister had made these the other day and I started to crave them. Not exactly on the diet, but we make them with fat free dogs and whole wheat buns. I also made my new favorite salad. It is made with green leaf lettuce, spinach, dried cranberries, almonds or walnuts, apples, and homemade vinaigrette. It is so delicious! We finished up the night with Twilight. Draven did not want to see it. After a few minutes into the movie, Draven was hooked. He loved it. Chris wants to start on the books now.
On Sunday, the kids and Chris went to church. While there, Draven made plans to spend the night with one of his friends. I dropped off Draven, then we headed to Nanny's house for dinner. She made a fantastic meal! We had the biggest pork chops I have ever seen. Chris referred to them as Chopzilla. We also had ratatouille, corn on the cob, and baked apples. It was so good! Lillie ate everything! After dinner we decided to take Lillie for a walk to the park. We played for a while then headed back to Nanny's. Lillie and I split a ice cream bar on the porch. Lillie loved that. She was such a mess and had to have a bath in Nanny's sink. When we got home Chris and I watched the Changeling. It is very depressing, but a really good movie. Monday we didn't have any plans. We picked up Draven from his friends house. After that we went shopping for fountains for our backyard. We didn't find anything. We needed to go to Academy to buy a seat for my bike for Lillie. Conveniently, Jason's Deli is right next door. We love that place. They have the best salad bar in town. Lillie ate a grilled cheese and an ice cream cone. When we got home Lillie took her nap. The rest of us started yard work. Draven worked so hard and was a huge help. I told him that we would all go swimming across the street to cool off. Luckily, we showed up just in time for a cookout. We all swam and ate for hours. The water was 88 degrees, about the same temperature as outside. Lillie couldn't get enough of the pool. Around 8pm we ended our long Memorial Day weekend. I hated to see it go. We all had a great time. I am so glad that summer is here!

Friday Family Fun Night...

For the past few months we have tried to do a family night every Friday. Usually it consists of us going to the south side YMCA to workout while Draven plays in the teen room and Lillie plays with babies. After that we would swim as a family. They have a great indoor pool/sprayground. Sometimes we just get takeout and rent a movie. Tonight we decided to splurge. We went to Incredible Pizza. This was not very "bunny (budget) friendly" as my sister would say. Just for four of us to get in cost $30+! That is with two adults, one 12 year old (yes, I know he is 13) and a baby. It also wasn't very diet friendly. We did make the decision to go there over Chuckee Cheese because they do have some healthy options. I think we did pretty well sticking to our diet, but there was ice cream...
Lillie spent most of the time taking in all of the lights and sounds. Chris called it Las Vegas for kids. Lillie didn't like most of the baby rides, but she loved the train. Draven went for all the games where you could win tickets. We all played air hockey. It is official, Draven is the air hockey champion! After spending two hours there we were done. All agreed it was money well spent. Everyone came home in a good mood. Now Draven is watching Spaceballs, Lillie is in bed, and Chris and I are getting ready for some Chelsea Lately in bed. Oh, one more thing! I finally got some new glasses and sunglasses. I love them! I am sure I will have a lot more to post over this long weekend...
Stay Tuned.

Play with your food...

Sooner Start always gives us great advice. They us every month what we should be working on with Lillie. The last few months they have told us we need to let Lillie feed herself. I dreaded this. I hate a mess. I give Lillie a spoon or fork and she uses it to throw food, not eat it. Sooner Start kept telling me we need to let her get messy. She will eventually figure it all out. Last Sunday we had my dad over for Chris' Super Helper Dinner. Lillie loves noodles and loved this. She ate in her highchair and had three helpings. I don't know how it happened or who's idea it was, but she ended up on the table. She went for the bowl of helper like she was a starving stray dog. She grabbed the serving spoon and started to shovel it in. Lots of it got in her mouth, most of it got on her. I don't know if this is what they meant by "it's ok if she gets messy." She ate well and we were entertained. She is doing much better using her fork and spoon. Lot's of it ends up on the floor or on her head, but she is getting the hang of it.

Long day...

When I used to say I had a "long day" it was because it was a stressful day. Now when I say I had a "long day" it is because I spent the whole day playing with my kids. Ok, not the whole day, but close. I had good intentions when I woke up this morning. Lillie and I had breakfast, started laundry, and cleaned. Then the phone rang. It usually means a call from my sister to ask if we want to play. The answer is always yes! We started off at the Omniplex then had lunch together. After that we picked up Bubba from school. I tried to get home to finish my work, I promise. Lillie wanted to take a nap. Then the phone rang again. Spencer wanted to meet Lillie for some swinging. Lillie can never pass up an opportunity to go to the park. We finally got back home at 5pm. Just in time to get dinner ready and head to the gym. Lillie is really starting to love the YMCA. She gets so excited to go play with kids. We had dinner and Lillie got ready for bed. I have a feeling we will all sleep well tonight. I am so thankful that I get to spend more time with my kids. Lillie and I have fun everyday. Soon Draven will be out of school and can join us. We have lots of activities planned. This is all thanks to my wonderful, hardworking husband. I am so lucky, or as Ben's Fold Five (in our song) says "I am the luckiest."

This is what a baby looks like after a long day... I think she was afraid to fall asleep. She didn't want to miss anything.

Mother's Day weekend...

These are pictures from our dinner at the Meltons.

Look out Lillie, A CAR! This is the annual beer and brat's party.

Lillie and Bubba got to ride in the fire truck at the Village Fair.
Since it was Mother's Day, everyone humored me and we wore our matching March For Babies Tshirts.

Aunt Marla sent me these beautiful earrings for Mother's Day. I wore them all weekend.

What a great weekend. Here's the recap. Friday Chris got off work early so we could go to the Southside YMCA for family fun day. We try to do something fun for the whole family on Fridays. The Southside Y has a indoor water park. Chris and I did our workout (my second workout in one day) then went swimming. It is a great place for babies. Lillie can walk in the water and play with all the water toys. They even have a family locker room. We have our own private room with a bathroom and shower. That makes things so much easier. After that, Chris and I had a dinner for exchange club. Draven babysat for a couple of hours and Chris and I enjoyed a wonderful meal (that wasn't on our diet.) When we got home we watched the Punisher. Not a bad movie. Definitely a boy movie, not a mom movie. We went to bed around midnight.
We spent most of the day Saturday running around. We started off with the Cassidy School Estate Sale fundraiser. Then we ran into the Village Fair. It was basically booths, music, food, and a petting zoo. The weather was beautiful so it was great just wandering around outside. After that we headed to an annual cookout. We had homemade beer and brats (once again, not on the diet.) The party was filled with kids. Draven and Lillie had a blast. The house is on a dead end street so the kids were riding bikes and playing in the road. Nice. We had to leave early from that party to head to another. We had a friend's daughter celebrating her first communion. We had more wonderful food. This time I stuck to a light salad. There were more kids playing. The big kids played soccer and Lillie played on the swing set and playhouse. We are taking home the playhouse. Our friends little girls have outgrown it. We are also getting their kitchen set. Both are adorable and much appreciated. We topped the night off with cake and champagne (there goes the diet again.) Once we were home we all crawled into bed and watch Justin Timberlake on SNL.

Now on to Sunday. Lillie slept in til 10am. So, I slept til 10am. I woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking. Chris made me breakfast in bed. He picked some sweet flowers and Draven and Lillie made me a card. Pretty sweet stuff. I decided to have my breakfast downstairs with the rest of the family. We all sat at the table in the living room and had breakfast together. While Lillie took her nap, Chris and I headed to the gym. We had a lot of "bad food" on Saturday. It was time to burn some of those calories. We checked out our rank at the gym. Looks like Chris and I should both make the board for next month. We both are trying to get our names on the board for top 10 male/female calories burned and for top 10 male/female days at the gym. Something about competing with others and seeing your name posted for everyone to see makes me want to work out even more. After the gym we went to run some errands and finished up with a trip to the library. I picked up a few nutrition books. Now Chris is making dinner. We are having turkey sausage, spaghetti, and zucchini and yellow squash. Yum!

I wasn't sure what I wanted for Mother's Day. Now looking back at my weekend, I think I got the perfect gift. I spent time with my family and they kept the house clean!
